Using Video to Promote Your Business – Steps to a Great Marketing Video
Video marketing is a matter of learning to speak to your audience in a way that will entertain, inform, and inspire your potential customers into doing business with you. Here are a few ways you can communicate more effectively with your potential clients and customers through your video marketing efforts.
The Video Marketing Model
First, focus on presenting a “hook, story, sell” model in your videos. Start off by getting your audience’s attention with an interesting fact, a shocking number, or an interesting story. If you use an interesting story, it doesn’t replace step two of the model, but it can certainly enhance it.
The “Story” portion of your video should be a story about your service or product. Give it a little umph by finding true stories about people using your product or one very much like yours. It’s important to show proof of results to your audience. Remember, the whole time they’re watching, they’re gauging you on their internal “BS meter”. They’ll smell it a mile away if you sell junk. Quality, quality, quality, people.
Selling by video is a delicate operation. You want the customer to feel like they’ve received something of value by spending time on your video, but you also want them to understand that you have something they want. So how do you express that?
What’s In It for Me?
Use the “what’s in it for me” method. Focusing on the benefits of your product or service and saying what they get when using it will go a long way towards making a sale. Remember, you don’t want to PUSH the product on them, you want them to PULL the product out of your hands…and put money in your pockets.
By emphasizing benefits, you’ll build desire from your customer. After that, selling is easy. All you need is a decent sales letter and a simple way to order, and you’re home free.
So remember, plant a hook with an interesting fact, figure, or anecdote. Tell them a story specifically about the company, product, or service to build rapport and a feeling of connection. Last, express real-world benefits to your potential customers. Show them that you really do know what you’re talking about, that you have something that will help them solve problems and achieve results they want, and then give them a simple way to order your product or service. A marketing video is as simple as that.
